How does localexpert work? Localexpert.biz provides each business with a purpose-designed web page which is housed within a searchable directory. Each site is registered in its own right so potential customers can find the services they want either through internet searches, or by looking up the directory itself. Any enquiries can be filed online and are automatically forwarded by email or, if the business does not have a computer, by fax. By providing a bespoke and affordable web design and hosting service, Localexpert brings the benefits of internet marketing within reach of small businesses with too little time or insufficient resource to manage the process for themselves. How will potential clients find my page? Anyone searching the localexpert.biz directory for your service/product, business name, geographic area or any word on your page will find you. Your page will also be registered with suitable search engines. This will enable anyone searching the web to find you. The more unique your service the more chance you have of being found. We cannot guarantee how many hits you will receive, but we will do our best to enable customers looking for your particular service to find you. Do I need to have an email connection? No, you don’t even need a computer, to take advantage of our service. Email enquiries from your site can be converted and sent to you by fax at no extra cost. This service is only available to UK numbers (those with the international code +44) and a few other European countries. It is not yet available in Ireland. Can I have my own corporate colours on my page? Yes, we are able to convert a supplied colour spec. for use on-screen as part of our normal page design service. On-screen colours are limited and may not match printed colours exactly. Different screens may also show the same colour differently. We will get as close as is possible, but are always willing to discuss the possible options with you. I don’t have a logo or corporate colours, what do I do? No problem, we will choose a suitable lettering style appropriate to your business, and will discuss the use of colour and graphics will you. What information should I put on my web page? You need to include company details, contact information and details of your business activities. The more unique your product or service the more chance there is of a new customer finding you. For example if you are a carpenter, say that, but if you particularly want to make Georgian Panelled doors include that too. Don’t just include items you are proud of, but try think what an ideal customer would be looking for? And also what do you want them to do - place an order, send you an email, phone and make an appointment etc. All words used on you page will be used in the localexpert.biz search so any word you include will help narrow the search to include your page. Try to keep your wording clear, simple, short and to the point. Keywords are included in your page details and are used by search engines to decided if your page contains the information asked for in a particular search question. They are not shown on your page when it is viewed. The Site Description is similar and is used by the web search engine when it lists all the pages it has found, so it needs to entice the questioner to look at your page before any others. As you can see, both the Keywords and Site Description are a very important part of being seen on the web as a whole - we are happy to help and will make suggestions if required. How often can I up-date my company details? After the initial design and layout has been agreed, pages can be reviewed and up-dated on their renewal date. Changes of address or contact details can be up-dated at any time. What images/photos should I use? If you make a unique product, then show that. If you don’t have anything like that, or you offer a service, try to think of something relevant to encourage a potential customer to make contact. If you are a member of a trade or professional body, you may wish to include their logo, if it is well known. You may feel that a longer description or more product details is more important than images. What do I need to get my web page up and running? All you need to do is print out our application form, fill it in and include all the information, copy and images requested and return it to us with a cheque for £235 (£200 plus £35 VAT) made payable to Checkley & Co. We will do the rest. I like your service, but I need a larger site If you need an extra page for more graphics and copy we are happy to add this for just £25. If your requirement is for a much larger site with interactive graphics, movies or e-commerce, this does not fit the localexpert.biz service. But we are able to offer a full design service for all your communication needs including web site design. I have registered a domain for my company, but I have never put anything on the site, can you help? Yes, we can design and run a web site for you, anything from a couple of pages to a large interactive e-commerce site. Please call for details. We will also include a page and a link to the site from within localexpert.biz for any web sites we design and/or maintain. Alternatively, we can up-load your localexpert.biz page to your own site as well, at no extra cost. Please contact us for details. I already have my own web site can I link to your directory? We can create a link from your localexpert.biz page to your existing web site. This will give you the benefit of extra traffic to your site. Please contact us for details. What parts of the country do you cover? As we are based in Herts we expect our initial business to come from the South-East, but the plan is for the directory to cover the whole of the UK and Ireland.
